Mexico Point Park is situated on 120 acres and provides the public with serene picnic areas, nature trails, swimming, and cultural experiences. Mexico Point State Park is located in the Town of Mexico in New York State. It is on the Eastern Shore of Lake Ontario and is awash with history. From pre-contact days when Algonquin and Iroquois Indians possessed these lands, to Jesuit Missionaries camping here, to English troops marching through on their way to the siege of Oswego, to Silas Towne’s spying on British General St. Leger, to the development of the first settlement (Vera Cruz), to the organization of the Town of Mexico, to the era of the elegant resort known as Mexico Point Inn, to Theodore Roosevelt’s speaking at a 4th of July Celebration, to prohibition and rum-running across the lake from Canada, to summer training camps of prize fighters Carmen Basilio and Joey DeJohn, to the current use as a public park managed by the Town of Mexico and the Friends of Mexico Point Park<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
